About us

The New London Children’s Choir offers a unique opportunity for girls and boys aged between 7 and 18 to learn to sing and enjoy all kinds of music. Launched by Ronald Corp in 1991, the Choir has appeared in all the major London concert halls with the UK’s finest symphony orchestras and conductors, has collaborated with opera companies in the UK and abroad, made dozens of recordings and broadcasts, and has appeared with internationally renowned artists including Lou Reed with whom the choir performed the Berlin tour in 2007 and now 2008. A Christmas Concert in The Azores was also a highlight for the choir in 2009 as well as the many other functions we perform all over the UK.

With an international profile, the Choir has performed at major festivals in the UK, France, Switzerland and Italy. In 2003-04 the Choir gave its US debut in the Lincoln Center, New York. The choir performed The Hard Nut at Sadler’s Wells with the Mark Morris Dance company in 2005.

Some highlights include: 1984 at the Royal Opera House, Richard Blackford’s Voices of Exile at the Royal Festival Hall, the BBC Blue Peter Prom, and Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall, the Queen’s Birthday Prom at the RAH in July 2006 and Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 at the RPO’s 60th anniversary concert at RAH in September 2006.

In January 2007, the Choir joined the London Symphony Chorus and Orchestra in a performance of John Adam’s On the Transmigration of Souls at the Barbican.

The Choir has a special commitment to commissioning and has premièred over forty new works by composers such as Diana Burrell, Simon Bainbridge, Howard Skempton, Philip Cashian, Patrick Nunn, Richard Causton, Gary Carpenter and Morgan Hayes.

In a collaboration with Nadia Raibin of Production Team and EMI Classics members of the choir have formed Kindred Spirits and released a debut album in December 2007. The video for the cover version of 'Fix You' was voted Classic FM video of the Month. The CD is in the top 5 of HMV Classical Chart.

In 2008 and 2009 The choir travelled extensively in Europe with Lou Reed as his vocal choir on the album 'Berlin'.

In June 2008 the New London Children's Choir recorded three songs for the feature film of The Nutcracker-The untold Story due to be released in 2010.

In 2010 we have recorded the works of Michael Hurd ready to be released towards the end of 2010 as well as a recording of Ron Corps' new childrens Opera 'The Ice Mountain' which was staged with much acclaim this year.

The New London Children's Choir was formed by Ronald Corp in 1991 for boys and girls aged 7 - 18 with the specific aim of introducing children to all types of music through singing and performing. It quickly established itself as one of the country's leading children's choirs.

The choir performs regularly with all the major London orchestras, national opera companies and at the Proms. It has a large discography and has made several film soundtracks as well as broadcasting for Classic FM, BBC Radio, and on TV. Recent foreign tours have included performances at the Lincoln Center in New York City and at festivals in France, Belgium and Switzerland.

"Whether we are staging a little 'opera' with the training choir, or working intensely towards a new commission with the seniors, I want the choir members to enjoy what they are doing"
