The Senior Choir is an Upper Voice Choir for boys and girls from 10 to 18 years old and is the main performing choir.
The children from the Choir have been involved in many concerts at major venues in the UK and abroad performing with some of the top orchestras in those countries. Much of the choirs work has been recorded.
The Choir has also recorded for film, television and commercials, toured with the band Lou Reed for a month in 2007 and 2008, made up the EMI young group of Kindred Spirits and recorded an album in 2007. The choir have recently recorded 5 works by Michael Hurd to be released in 2010 on the Naxos label.
During 2009 the Senior Choir appeared at the Royal Festival Hall, St John's Smith Square, Open Holland Park's production of Hansel and Gretel, the Various Voices festival , London Zoo Christmas Carols and the world premiere of Disneys 'A Christmas Carol' in Leicester Square where 100 members of the choir entertained the stars singing carols and performed alongside Andrea Bocelli.
2010 was even busier with our children appearing in 'La Boheme' at the ENO, singing with Nico Muhly at the Barbican his latest work, with 'These New Puritans' at the Barbican, with Hayley Westenra at the Barbican, and at the Saracens Wasps match on Boxing Day at Wembley. Many other things made for a very busy 2010.
In 2011 we performed with 'The Cloggs' at the Barbican as part of the Steve Reich Weekend. We have performed with the indie group Battles and appeared at the Barbican again in Honegger's 'Joan of Arc at the Stake'.
We have recorded an album of Ronald Corp's Cantata with The London Chorus. We have participated, singing 'Carmina Burana' with Highgate Choral at the Royal Festival Hall.
Individual children have participated in other events, including, being three of the Fox Cubs in the Opera Holland Parks production of 'Fantastic Mr Fox' , children in 'Damnation of Faust', 'Midsummer Nights Dream' Nico Muhlys 'Two Boys' at the English National Opera. One of our girls performed as a Flora in 'Turn of the Screw' at the Kings Head, Islington, two girls were Floras in 'Turn of the Screw' in Vienna in August and September 2011. So we are busy collectively and separately. People constantly choose to contact our choir and visit rehearsals when they need talented, skilled musicians and singers.
Entry to the Senior Choir is by audition with Ronald Corp and children will ideally already be able to read music.
